General Rahil Sharif Denies to Get Extension in Service
Chief of Army Staff General Rahil Sharif denied to take extension in his service. He said that he dislikes extension.Army is a well reputed and disciplined institute and being the Army Chief I dislike extension in my service.I will retire on my retirement date.
“Speculations about extension in service of COAS are baseless. COAS said: ‘Pakistan Army is a great institution. I don’t believe in extension’… and will retire on the due date,” Director General ISPR, Lt. General Asim Bajwa, quoted the army chief in a series of tweets.
The Pakistan Army spokesman said the military chief is resolute to carry on his efforts to rid the country of terrorism.
“Efforts to root out terrorism will continue with full vigor and resolve… Pakistan’s national interest is supreme and will be safe guarded at all costs,” Bajwa said further.
General Raheel Sharif, who was appointed for three years on 27 November 2013, is going to retire in November this year.
General Raheel Sharif is considered to be Pakistan’s most powerful man, and he has led a military operation against militants.
He replaced General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani who was given three years extension.
As per rules of armed forces, a chief of army staff serves for three years. But President of Pakistan can extend his service on the advice of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
There are many arguments on the statement of Army Chief and many people showed disappointment on COAs statement and they said that rahil Sharif should get the extension to robe the terrorism.
Former president of Pakistan Asif zardari well comes the statement of COAS and said that the decision is patriotic.
